What's in a Name?

Letters.

You should know that my name is Winter. If you have not noticed that before now... well, just read more. Anyway today I feel like posting a list of random things people have said to me about my name and my thoughts on them. I don't mean to offend anyone if you have said something like that to me before because at this point in time I hardly notice it.

First just basic things people say:
  • "Your name is Winter?"
    • Like I don't know that... And yes, you heard right.
  • "I like/love that name!"
    • Why thank you! It was a birthday gift.
  • "I have never heard that name before, well, I have heard of Summer."
    • Summer? Winter? The same only different.
  • "Oh I have a sister/aunt/dog/goldfish named Summer"
    • Okay, now I have to live up to your goldfish's name. That may be hard.
  • "Is that your real name?"
    • No, I just like to make up things like that.
  • "Do you have a sibling named Autumn/Summer/June/April/Rain?" etc.
    • No. The rest of my siblings are "normal."
  • "Were you born in the wintertime?"
    • Yes. Were you?
  • "Is you favorite season winter?" or "Do you hate the summer?"
    • Honestly does it matter? Whether you like it or not weather is just weather. And if you really want to know my favorite season is fall.
  • "Hey Summer... Oh did I just call you Summer? Sorry I meant Autumn um... Winter..."
    • People call me Summer all the time accidentally, but I hardly notice anymore and I respond anyway because it has become normal.
  • People try to rhyme with my name and they can only come up with "splinter"
    • There are other words in the english language that rhyme with my name.
  • "I hate winter!"
    • There have been many times when people say something like that, so I cry and they apologize profusely and then I laugh at them. Bwahahahaha!!! :)
Next the "winter" puns:
  • "Wow. That's cool Winter." {insert a random snicker from them}
  • "Ha ha! Winter is ending because tomorrow is spring!"
  • "Oh you brought winter with you..."
  • "Go away Winter! I hate snow!"
  • "Winter has come!"

Then that one time in Narnia:
"Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight, At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more, When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death, And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again." -The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis
Okay, I know the "winter" mentioned is the season winter, but it is funny to watch the movie with people as I dramatically gasp at this part.

Also finding things with my name:

This is something many people with "special names" can relate to. You go to an amusement park and all the other kids get to buy something with their name on it. I can't find anything with my name on it unless it is blue with a snowflake... Sometimes I just don't like blue, and I want a little wind up flashlight keychain from six flags with my name on it!!!

A lovely story about a friend of mine:
The first time I met her, she was talking to me and learned my name. Later my brother overheard her talking to her mom: "Hey mom! I met this girl her name is Snow!" Well, it was close... :)

The End. Conclusion. Finish. Or "Finally this blog post is done":
Over all I do like my name it is nice. I have heard it hundreds of times, but it's still pretty. Even though I don't like the puns sometimes it's a great conversation starter especially when things start out with an awkward Silence.

Ha! If you made it to the end of this weird, sarcastic, randomish, and long post, then congratulations!!!

Oh... that picture right there on the left? Well, I had a reason to put it there, but I forgot...

    1. Thanks!
And sorry no enlightenment! (But you could just consider it a Doctor Who reference)
