We Wish You a Busy Christmas!

It's strange to think that Christmas is almost here, and as soon as it comes it goes because we start to think of the new year.  *Insert multiple cliché blogger Christmas sayings here*

It has been weird being home because I feel more like a spectator since coming back from college. People always say that Christmas and the holidays are busy, but this is the first year I have stepped back to see that.

I think this time is so busy because we are trying to fill something in us that is missing. We fill the Christmas season by spending time with family and friends, keeping holiday traditions, volunteering, and buying gifts for people we care about. Those are all great things, but we might just be doing those things to fill the emptiness in us.

So what's missing you ask? It's God. Really we celebrate this holiday to remember that Jesus came down to earth. In all our Christmas busyness our main focus is not God, but we think we are focusing on Him by spending time working and attending events. Sure God is everywhere and we can find Him, but the point of Christmas is not just happening to run into God as we wander in busyness. We should be focusing on Him and showing His love to others.

I want to spend this holiday celebration as a time to refocus on God. I can still do that and all the other Christmas things, but my main motive will be remembering what God has done rather than trying to feel something good and "Christmas-y".

I wish you all a merry Christmas! I hope you get annoying songs stuck in your head, gain 50 pounds from eating all the yummy food, and spend lots of time with the people you love. I especially hope God is in your heart and the center of your celebration this year.

P.S Ugly Christmas sweater parties are my favorite type of party to shop for. That is a beautiful dress I am wearing.

  1. LOVE that photo! It cracks me up! And I agree, everyone likes to say 'the reason for the season' but they don't always seem to actually live it.

    1. Thank you! And I found the dress at a church rummage sale... You can find pretty epic things there if you look.
